Funding from the Norwegian Cancer Society
The Kuijjer group has received funding from the Norwegian Cancer Society through the "Krafttak mot Kreft" program, for the project "Precision network medicine for treatment stratification of metastatic breast cancer." The project concerns computational method development and analyses to better understand the regulatory alterations that may contribute to metastatic breast cancer. We are very excited to start this project in 2024.

New publication
We recently published new work, led by Ping-Han, in Bioinformatics. Ping-Han developed a new normalization method, called SNAIL, which he specifically designed for the pre-processing of large-scale heterogeneous RNA-Seq data prior to network modeling.

We are very excited to announce that Anne Kristin McLaren Berge has joined Kuijjer group on a research visit. Anne is a PhD student in the group of our collaborator Erik Knutsen at the Arctic University of Norway (UiT). During her stay at NCMM, Anne will investigate the role of TRIM proteins in gene regulation in breast and head and neck cancer.

Gabriel successfully defended his thesis
This week, Gabriel successfully defended his Master's thesis "Network Analysis of the 3D Genome" at the Department of Biosciences (IBV), University of Oslo. His thesis and presentation were examined by internal censor Lex Nederbragt from IBV and IFI, and external censor Martin Kuiper from NTNU. Gabriel developed a pipeline to convert Hi-C data to networks, which can be used for network analysis of 3D chromatin...

We are very excited to announce that Nolan Newman has joined the lab as a postdoctoral fellow. Nolan has a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, with a minor in Biological Data Sciences, from Oregon State University. Nolan's project involves modeling and analysis of patient-specific gene regulatory networks for the subtyping of breast cancer.
